We are pleased to publish a new report, Coordinating the collection of high-quality data on the mental, cognitive and neurological health impacts of COVID-19 from our joint workshop with MQ on Tuesday 5 May 2020,
The workshop convened experts in mental, cognitive and neurological health to explore collaborative, consortium-based approaches to data collection, to consolidate and refine an existing research proposal. Participants identified the considerations they felt most important to a successful consortium proposal.
Key themes included:
- Clear articulation of the database scope and how it will link with other consortia and datasets.
- Refined short-term and long-term project deliverables, drawing clear distinctions between them.
- A strong and transparent patient and public involvement (PPI) component which considers the views of patients and others with lived experience.
- Strong geographical representation in the consortium membership to ensure a truly national proposal using harmonised measures.
Following the workshop, the existing proposal was further strengthened and is currently under review.

A report of our second workshop with MQ, which looked at digital and remote mental health interventions in relation to COVID-19, will be published later in Summer 2020.
